The Idea...
Our sense of smell is linked with our ability to taste and this fact is not unknown to anyone only we have somewhere over the years forgotten to smell our food! Blame it on the pressure to maintain table manners, or social etiquettes but aromas in a meal undeniably add a lot to the experience of dining, or simply the act of consumption of that dish. By sharpening this sense which is our sense of smell one gets more out of every bite you take, and therefore deeper pleasure out of life itself, food is after all the very essence of our being. Remember in history books, we learnt about the early man who were essentially hunters and scavenged their daily nourishment from the wild, well since the passage of time and since there is no longer the need to detect the approach of a sabre-toothed tiger , our sense of smell has dramatically lost its natural power. But it is possible to reverse that! Just like in perfumery certain notes dominate and are more apparent to our nostrils, certain aromatic ingredients in food act as excitement builders, they create and olfactive impression of the dish in our minds, make us salivate and thereby increase our hunger. What we plan to do is an exercise to improve your sensory ability where you not only experience the taste and visual aspect of a meal but the smells that make the food oh so tasty!
