During the day its a delicious fresh honey with the wonderful scent of gardenia and blood orange, and by night its SCANDALOUS!
Blood orange, gardenia, honey, Patchouli, and creamy, woody undertones that create a warm earthy effect.
So whats the big SCANDAL here? As the story goes Madame La Ministre, stays out all night, painting the town red, and doing it all so discreetly as to avoid the prying eyes of the paparazzi. Just as she arrives at at the ministry ready to step out of her car and maker her way to her office, they are already waiting for her at the doorsteps and the shutterbugs go into frenzy of blinding buzzes and clicks and sensational allegations...
This story is not surprising and totally believable considering how men and women of significance holding positions in high offices or in the government or in film/music/sports industries are always subject to intense media scrutiny and voyeuristic intrusion into their personal affairs. So when a modern day woman who is young, beautiful and also successful with an imaginative non-conformist free-thinking disposition, makes her way into the formalist world of politics, she is bound to ruffle a few feathers.
This idea of a female that does not always choose to 'colour within the lines' especially in situations where one is bound by strict protocols and expectations, is one that always intrigues me. Though some might find this particular backstory slightly cliché and speaks to a primitive ideal of femininity, that a woman who breaks norms can only be a rebel, I find Jean Paul Gaultier's representation harmless and fun and coming from a good place. That women are sexy, capable, independent and confident, with their heads firmly on their shoulders but with wink in their eye!
The fragrance aims to highlight this dual aspect of something idealistic, feminine, charming and sweet while still having a elusive, dark, androgynous edge. The fragrance brings out warm honeyed, perfumed florals that have a light bitter orange glimmer but soon take the form of something more velvet, gourmand, hints of wood and thick syrup...
I do wish however it did not remain linear throughout and one was able to explore this progression from something feminine floral to something deeper. richer and chypre-gourmand.
All day every day type of scent, it is on-trend with the vanilla-floral gourmand scents of today and the bottle is a keeper!
