There's definitely some poetry here...with the highs of bergamot, lows from sandal, melody created by vanilla and resins, a unique oriental rose renders each verse in Crimson allure...incense adds intrigue while ginger kicks up this orchestral opening...whether this is a love ballad or a mere symphony, Lyric for women by Amouage does transport one to a concert where each beautiful ingredient plays up the other...
Bergamot with spices – ginger, cinnamon and saffron in the top. The rose awaits us in the heart, just like in the version for men. It is joined by angelica and floral support of jasmine, ylang-ylang, geranium and iris root. The base notes introduce oak moss, sensual musk, woody accords, patchouli, vetiver, sandalwood, Tonka bean and incense.
I'm usually one to take the name of a fragrance quite seriously. It gives a sort of prelude to an intangible effect that is to be created by the scent in question and one that is meant to be only experienced or felt. So when the name of a perfume creates a trailer one that I can view prior to actually smelling it, it also works to heighten my senses and excitement for it.
I the case of Lyric, though very poetic, the name may as well have been 'symphony' or 'medley' or any such nomenclature that might imply an arrangement, of lyrics, tunes, sounds, and a beautiful one at that.
This scent is an elitist sort of a scent, for the distinguished and high handed sort. It is feminine and yet it exudes a rare persistent energy that demands attention. The opening is rummy with rich spices such as cardamom and cinnamon and the fresh spiciness generously provided by bergamot and ginger. The heart is truly spectacular. Rose exhibits dark and bewitching qualities, though I never actually smell it independently in this blend, and then beautiful powdery florals wrap me up in a luxurious embrace. Sweet balsamic accords linger the background and heady incense makes me go back for sniff after sniff.
Though I find it a very mature and an intimidating types of a scent for me, I will not stop myself from acquiring this and wearing someday.
In the meanwhile, gift it to someone who reeks of royalty or power, or if you dare, wear it to a magnificent evening, maybe a ball or a high profile dinner affaire.
