The fantasy – The Untold story of the rarest Black Orchid that grew in a field of Black Opium plantation, its Classique Intense presence in this dark flower-less Shalimar …
Floral gourmand and chypre oriental scents all with aromatic white flowers and seductively moreish vanilla accrods.
Jean Paul Gaultier Classique Intense
Francis Kurkdjian recreated the original from 1993 into a more modern day interpretation of the Classique, and it was launched in the summer of 2014 as Intense. The bottle captures a man’s fantasy of the female form in all its glory…with pomegranate sweetness that sparkles, fresh white florals make the heart and vanilla in the base just blends this all into a mix that’s liquid seduction.
Wear it on….a date at a fine dine restaurant.
Wear it if…you are a lady who loves satins and silks, and gold accents, and slips and gowns, and love the sun
Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium
Master perfumers Nathalie Lorson and Marie Salamagne, in collaboration with Olivier Cresp and Honorine Blanc, developed the composition. The bottle is rock and roll glammed up to the nines. The sparkles set the tone for a spicy floral core that plays beautifully with vanilla and patchouli. It has a molten quality to it and engulfs you in a cloud of rock chic glam.
Wear it on…a night on the town, when you hit a bar and a club after
Wear it if…you are feeling frisky, and you love your herve leger numbers and your killer heels and leather and studs, and love moonlight
Tom Ford Black Orchid
Black Orchid was created by perfume creators of fragrance company Givaudan in 2006. The bottle plays up its dark opulence and is classically modern. The juice is a sensual gourmand that’s complex and layered and plays up the mystery element so well. Rich chocolate accords, plenty of spices, hints of white florals and intoxicating incense make this fragrance truly rare and awe inspiring.
Wear it on…an opening, when you are the guest of honor or wear it when it’s your big fat wedding with thousands of people around and you want to stand out
Wear it if…you burn as bright as the fire inside of you, if you love reds, plush velvets, and are most awake at night
Elizabeth Arden Untold Absolu
The successful first perfume Untold was succeeded by various interpretations of a woman’s life in the collection created by perfumer Clement Gavarry. Untold Absolu was launched in 2014 and is warmer, fruitier and more floral than the previous. It seems to have aged like wine, with more class and grace, less fire but more style…beautiful fruity opening followed by rich florals that make a beautiful heart, and the smooth creamy tones of vanilla, tonka bean, benzoin all make for an elegant yet stately blend. It is subtle power in a bottle.
Wear it on…a luncheon, while you maintain your unmatched elegance and grace.
Wear it if….you are LADY, who is in control and power, is not offensive, loves white linens and cottons, and the blue sky.
Guerlain Shalimar L’eau
Not much is left to be said about the hugely acclaimed Shalimar, a fragrance first launched in 1921, and now the re-interpretation in 2012, which is further foray in the Shalimar cosmos by perfumer Thierry Wasser. This one tops my list for its lightness and ‘powderiness’ that’s also fresh and spicy all at the same time. Fresh citrus opening, and dry spring bouquet heart with the warmth of vanilaa that just caresses gently….its pure love, that’s ethereal and regral.
Wear it on…the most important moment of your life, so it remains etched in your memory forever along with the scent.
Wear it if….you are an heiress or feel like one, you love everything that’s royal, chattily lace, rose bouquets, chariots, prince charming…and if you love fresh morning air.
