"A touch of poetic rêverie
Luxury is rediscovered
Perfume as a poem | From the makers of Memo Paris comes an offering with palette of 11 scents all surrounding the ancient ceremonies of the orient practised in the Far East. An Ikebana ceremony that celebrates enigmatic blossoms of Japanese gardens surreal and serene, an O Cha ceremony that captures essences of secret teas and spices, healing and energising and a Kodo ceremony that brings to life forbidden incense aromas, intoxicating and purifying. Clara Molloy, the founder, creator and aesthete, explains that each scent is a complete experience on its own but Floraiku gives us the chance to "shadow" each scent adding newer and more surprising nuances with two Shadow scents...keep watching this space to know more on these very rare but heavenly scents as I sample through this box.
O Cha Ceremony
"The Second ceremony is of secret teas and spices
Wind and memories
Clara derives her inspiration from the Far East, as she took me on a journey as I discover the complete floraiku palette...we talk about Haïku, the traditional form of Japenese poetry which serves as inspiration behind this most unique brand. Each fragrance is an olfactive personification of a Haiku poem which is valued in the Japanese culture for its simplicity, openness, depth and lightness much like each creation that brings to life a myriad of floral, incense, and earthy aromas in an artistic and subliminal style.
This collection of scents revolve around the 'O cha ceremony' which is the Japanese tea ceremony, also called the Way of Tea. It is a Japanese cultural activity involving the ceremonial preparation and presentation of matcha (抹茶) powdered green tea....
One Umbrella for Two | Developed by perfumer Aliénor Massenet. "Our Eyes Raise To The Sky | No Rain | One Umbrella For Two."
Precious ingredients - With Blackcurrant, Genmaicha tea and Cedar.
First Impressions - The first whiff suggests a sharp sweetness at the opening of the black current accord, a strong hay-like-nutty-footy almost milky nuance of the Genmaicha tea which progress to smoky nuances that linger in the background as the blackcurrant sweetness intensifies to something more resinous. Cedar adds woody depth to this mystic blend.
I am Coming Home | Developed by perfumer Sophie Labbé. "Shivering Lights Far Away | Tonight I Am Coming Home."
Precious ingredients - With Ginger, White tea and Cardamom.
First Impressions - Zesty opening of Ginger and uncanny Citruses, that are brightened by a clear, refined nuance of delicate white tea, the aroma wafts gently around the potion while the luminous sweet aroma of cardamom livens up the blend by adding a luxurious quality.
The Moon and I | developed by perfumer Sophie Labbé. "In This World Of Dreams | The Moon And I | Contemplating Night Flowers."
Precious ingredients - With Maté Absolute, Matcha Tea and Cedar.
First Impressions - A tangle of vines with string deep-green whiff, herbal and earthy owing to Maté Absolute, quickly followed by intoxicating bitter-gourd like nuances of the famed Match Tea. A concoction of aromas that seem to possess healing and purifying properties, a magic blend to rid one of all vices, and bring one closer to the concept of beauty in simplicity, subtlety and balance. This is perhaps the best olfactive representation of what a "green tea" scent should smell like.
