In keeping with the au naturale theme, I was keen to cover this scent which is an extension of their skin care line. I find that fragrances that convey this sense of caress, close to Mother Nature vibe as well as care for your well being much like the rest of their products seem to draw me in this summer heat. And so when a fragrance is named Fijian Lotus Water there is an automatic association to a calm picturesque garden of The Orient, cool stagnant blue water and the elegance of a lotus pond. This scent by The Body Shop intertwines gentle and sensual lotus scent with calming aromatic sea breeze and refreshing citrusy mandarins. It has a bright floral heart and the overall experience is like being soaked in fragrant water. My only woe...its longevity. It remains faint by the second hour and begs for retouching. All in all this is an olfactive journey that's one to take...to the Far East land of exotic aroma that is fresh and sweet and has a sense of purity to it.
As the sun outside gets less and less forgiving and stepping out gets truly unbearable I was keen to try something different and effortless to get me through these harsh summer days. I have been reviewing scents that represent the au natural feel, and are extensions of the skin care range from the same brands. And it is no surprise my feet led me right into the beautiful vintage-y store that prides itself in its authentic apothecary heritage - Kiehl's! I have to say I was not pleased with myself for not trying it sooner...and when I did it was instant love! The new addition to their 'Aromatic Blends' collection is Fresh rose and patchouli EDT launched in 2013. It's sheer and an abstract blend, the rose has a subliminal quality to it. I particularly love the underlying hints of bergamot and orange...that make it refreshing and perfect for summer. Patchouli is very light and overall this modern all occasion scent is so well balanced. A simple but worthwhile scent that's easy on the pocket and will appeal to all those who don't typically wear 'perfume' inclining toward the niche fragrance segment.
https://instagram.com/artandolfaction/ @artandolfaction they sculpted some noses...and where there's s nose there's Us!
Just as every nose is different in its shape and size, they are also different in terms of their ability to smell. Though several nuances influence the olfactory perception and experience of a person but nose plays the biggest role in creating the pleasurable experience when one smells something 'good'
This also marks the 100th post for Tender Loving Nose and it's been one helluva journey!!
The blast of lemon, neroli and bergamot make Versace pour homme shine in all its citrus glory, and the bright aromatic opening of Eau de Cartier infused with the bitter citrusy sweetness of yuzu and bergamot laced with hints of coriander...all complete the perfect summer cocktail. As the sun shines clear and renders everything golden, ice sparkles like jewels and the effervescence from the bubbles dance around in the summer light....the mood set for a day out in the sun...

When citrus fresh starts to take bitter spicy route it gets really hard to resist...basing itself on the concept of materials of the earth soil, roots, matter, wood, Terre D'Hermes opens with zesty accords of grapefruit and orange and quickly trail into a spicy core. The effervescence of lime soda is reminiscent of 'fireworks in a bottle' that is reflected in the fresh feminine scent Eau des Merveilles by Hermes. The craving for a sparkling lime and mint mix, that is Batucada by L'Artisan Parfumeur. The joy and rhythm of the Brazilian Samba in a bottle. As the bubbles do their joyous dance...a wave of masculine fresh spicy notes of Gucci Guilty pour homme hit you...African orange flower and neroli coupled with intense spicy accords of Lavender create and intoxicating aroma...

"Our senses are quicker to prompt us than our reason..." Sights and sounds and smells around us inspire us constantly...to create experiences and memories. The feelings experienced in that moment originate from a deep place in our soul. So whether it is the feeling of longing ache to travel to a place where the sun shines bright, and the waters are cool and the breeze carries an unforgettable aroma that stirs you within....or it's the urge to run through a field of lavenders and breathe in that gorgeous spicy floral scent....it is not our reason that drives us to take these journeys and experience these experiences, it is our sense memory created by the nose, eyes, ears, tongue and the skin.
Here is a small preview of the shoot I conducted using miniature scents with Fresh Citrus character. Watch this space for more!! Note : All shots are original shots conceptualised and shot by Tender Loving Nose on canonEOS600D
